¿Why do conservation of birds?
Besides it’s beauty, colors, shapes, flight, migrations and their adaptability to practically all the habitats in the world, birds are an important indicator of the environmental health due their sensibility to environment changes. Threatened birds are the most evident symptom of the environment crisis we are now facing.
In general, the areas that are rich in birds are also important for biodiversity in general (BirdLife International, 2006), this makes birds one of the most important indicators to identify priority conservation sites.
Bird conservation does not only involve the conservation of this animal group, but also the preservation of their habitat and the diversity that are hold inside. At the same time, all conservation actions must be developed integrating people who cohabit with these beautiful animals, seeking coexistence in harmony.
Birds are also important for raising money for conservation, the beauty of birds helps to use them as flagship species for conservation of the diversity of life.
